Non-drug strategies that actually work
Use music, validation, reminiscence, creative arts, pet therapy, tactile tools, and nature exposure to reduce agitation and enhance cooperation—without sacrificing safety or dignity.
Title 22, made practical
Translate §§ 87466, 87468, and 87705 into daily actions: observation notes that matter, honoring personal rights through real choices, and building staff competency with on-the-floor coaching.
Person before task
Ditch “hurry-up” care. Learn fast ways to weave identity, culture, and former roles into ADLs so residents feel seen—and behaviors often de-escalate on their own.
About the course
You’re juggling regulations, staffing, families, and residents who deserve more than “busy work.” This course meets you where you are: short on time, big on responsibility, and determined to deliver care that is both compassionate and compliant. We turn the latest evidence on person-centered, non-pharmacologic dementia care into clear, repeatable routines your team can use today—validation, reminiscence, music, creative arts, nature, sensory tools—woven into ADLs so residents feel safe, known, and engaged. Worried about “one more training,” staff buy-in, or whether this really fits Title 22? We tackle those head-on. Each strategy is mapped to § 87466 Observation, § 87468 Personal Rights, and § 87705 Dementia Training, with practical phrasing for notes and care-plan updates. Scripts, checklists, and printable tools remove guesswork and help you coach the floor—no extra headcount required. By the end, you’ll have: Step-by-step playbooks to de-escalate behaviors without defaulting to meds Care-plan language that reflects choice, dignity, and personhood Quick huddles, documentation tips, and “what to try next” menus your staff will actually use Created by SapphireBlue CEU & Consulting, this course blends real RCFE experience with current research—so it works in survey season and on a hectic Tuesday night shift.
