About the course

Admissions in dementia care are one of the highest-risk decision points in residential care. A rushed or incomplete assessment can lead to falls, behavioral crises, unmet needs, and unsafe placements. This course provides a clear, structured approach to dementia-focused resident assessment, admission decision-making, and care planning within the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) setting. Designed for administrators, managers, and care leaders, this training goes beyond forms and checklists. You will learn how to gather accurate information using a multi-source approach, interpret required documents such as the LIC 602, and evaluate whether your facility can realistically meet a resident’s needs. The course also demonstrates how to translate assessment findings into practical, staff-ready care plans with clear interventions and escalation triggers. Grounded in California Title 22 requirements and real-world best practices, this course supports safer admissions, stronger care delivery, and improved resident outcomes.
